According to CNN, the previous record was made by the Indian Space Research Organization’s PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch System) in 2017 with 140 satellites.
The mission, Transporter-1, was to bring 133 government and commercial satellites and 10 Starlink satellites into orbit. According to SpaceX, the load was a part of SpaceX’s SmallSat Rideshare Program that offers customers a “reliable, affordable ride to orbit.”
